Travel-World Photography
We went to Egypt i February 1998 together with two friends. This was just three months after the massacre of 58 tourists and 4 nationals at the Temple of Hatshepsut in the Luxor area. The tourist business fell like a rock, and the authorities did everything they could to protect those willing to visit, including police riding on camels at the major sites.
We joined a small British travel group in Cairo. Thereafter we took the overnight train south to Aswan, and from there a river boat down the Nile to Luxor. The trip took us to Hurgadah by the red sea, and finally a new bus back to Cairo and home.
All the pictures in the Egypt section were taken with a simple camera on negative color film and copied to prints. The prints are scanned and processed. The images certainly do not present day standards, but convey the experience we had.
