From Aswan we took a river boat down the Nile. We stayed two days overnight, and enjoyed a leisure cruise un the top deck, observing life along the river. After passing a lock in the river, we arrived in Kom Ombo with is own massive temple.
Travel to Kom Ombo
A large river boat at anchor(tourists were very few at the time)
Palm trees lining the river bed, with the desert just behind
An old fortress with a walkway climbing the steep river side
Old, abandoned buildings
A few cattle searching for grass
Seemingly a planted forest with the very dry desert behind
A wide stretch of the Nile
Relaxing on the top deck
Getting "baked" in the sun(this was in February)
Entering a lock in the river
Two men on the side of the lock
We have just passed through the lock
A lush palm forest
Old cliff dwellings with more modern houses in the background
Barges with loads of reeds at anchor
One of just of teh few water tanks we observed
