Turtle Beach lies 13 kilometer from the traditional Turkish village of Dalyan, between the popular vacations spots at Fethiye and Marmaris in Mugla Province. The 5 km wide beach is technically a sandbank sandwiched between a natural freshwater lake and the sparkling Turquoise sea.
The Turtle Beach got its name from the fact that it is the nesting area for the endangered Loggerhead turtles, a 45 million-year-old species who are both monitored and protected by the International Animal Protection Organization as well as other notable groups. The Caretta lay their eggs between May and October.
The day we went there, it was overcast, and at the end we a really good rain shower.
