The Great Wall

The Great Wall of China was built to protect the historic Northern border towards the nomadic groups living in the steppes North of China. Several sections were built as early as the 7th century BC, and when completed around year 1600, it reached a total length of about 22 000 km.

During our visit to a small section of the wall, we got snow showers. But that did not detract from the image of the scale of the project.
