The grottos are located on the south shore of the island. Heavy weather has eroded the soft sandstone and created a system of grottos. The nickname "blue" got its name from tthe color of the silt from the eroded rock, in combination with the azure blue sky.
Access is via small boats from a small harbor. This has a long access-ramp, which is also used to store the boars during the off-season.
