Sintra

Sintra is located West of Lisboa on a hilltop, with view towards the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding agricultural areas. The city is on the UNESCO World Heritage list, and is known for several royal palaces, including Palácio National de Sintra with its fabulous interiors, and Pena Palace. Quinta da Regaleira is a palace built by a private citizen in 1920, with a luxurious park med lakes, grottos and fountains. The moors were here as well, and built the Castelo de Mouros on the very hilltop.
