Riga is the capital of Latvia and has a population about 650 000. Riga was founded in around year 1200 and is a former Hanseatic city, the reason being its strategic location at the bottom of the Baltic sea, and with a vast territory for trade towards the east. The River Daugava runs through the city. Riga's historical centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in part due to the building architecture from various periods.
Among other places, we had dinner in a Medieval restaurant located at the start of an very old underground tunnel leading down to the harbor.
