Puerto Madryn

Puerto Madryn is a commercial port midway beween the Falkland Islands and Buenos Aires in Argentina. The sailing distance was almost 1300 km. The voyage took about 30 hours in the open ocean. But lucky us: While we were in the South enjoying calm and nice weather, a storm dropped huge amounts on rain in Buenos Aires.  We passed through this storm on the way North to Puerto Madryn, arriving there in beautiful, sunny weather.

The city lies in the Patagonia District of Argentina. The economy is based on substantial herds of sheep, on forest products, and on and industrial fishing. The city population is about 100.000.
