We went on a bus on a day trip to Oxford, one of the epicenters of High Learning in Europe. The university was founded around year 1100, making it the oldest university in the English-speaking world.
Oxford is located about 100 km north-west of London, and has population of about 165 000, plus around 26 000 students from over 160 countries.
After strolling among the old buildings of learning, we climbed the tower of
of St Mary's Church, which offers a panorama of the city. One view is of the High Street, termed "the High".
The highlight if the visit was Blackwell Bookshop, which has several floors with an open area in the middle. Actually, the company has stores in almost all English universities. Wisdom "oozed" from the shelves!
