Lysekil is the largest community between Strømstad and Gothenburg with 7600 inhabitants. During the earlier days, herring was a main source of income. Lysekil also was the home base for a large fleet of sail ships. today, it is another important harbor for the yacht people.
In later years, a large number of summer houses have been built. In our view, this has destroyed much of the idyllic atmosphere that used to be.
Near by Lysekil, we happened to find a site with carvings in the rock from the stone age.
