We happened to visit during the Latvian Independent Day on 4. May, celebrating the independence from Russia in 1990. It looked like the whole population were in the streets. Especially young women had flower wreaths on the heads. And several community sing-along groups were arranges, with a conductor and the song text displayed on big screens. Especially women were dressed up in many kinds of uniforms. All-in-all, it was a very moving experience.
