Las Alpararras is a string of small, fairly isolated villages in a valley between a mountain ridge towards the ocean, end the high Sierra Nevada. The buildings are generally densely clustered, located in between areas of olives and citrus fields. The buildings are all painted white, and stand out from the darker bckgrond. For this reason, they are called "The White Towns". The images below are from a trip in March 2011. The weather was rainy, and with new snow on the higher hills. In spite of grainy and dark photos, the series convey a feeling of the area.
