Kyrenia (Girne i Turkish) sits on the northern coast, and has a population of about 20.000 inhabitants. It has a nice harbor, and an old fortress domination and protecting the harbor. The old part of the city has a very authentic atmosphere and is nice for walking the back streets.
On a high mountain south of the city are a very old remnants of a fortress overlooking the area, presumably from an area where war was raging in the Mediterranean.
