Granada is a major city with a population of about 230.000. It is located at the high altitude of 740 m. For this reason, the climate is quite nice, in spite of being in a generally hot Spanish region. The snow-clad Sierra Nevada is in the background, with an elevation of more than 3000 m.
The jewel of Granada is the Alhambra Place with the Alcazaba fortress, and the adjoining Generalife Summer Palace.
