Fuerteventura

Fuertevetura is located less than 100 km from the African coast. The island is mostly volanic in nature, where vegetation thrives in the valleys, and in paticular on the Western side, where the humidity is higher. On the Eastern side, dry winds from Africa create desert-like areas, with sand dunes extending from the shoreline and into the hills behind. And due to the steady African winds, wind surfing is a very popular sport in Fuerteventura. The climate is warm and stable, with the mean temperature range between 17 and 24 degrees through the months of the year. The permanent population is about 125.000, but as the island is a popular tourist destination, the overall population through the year is closer to 200.000. The avarage yearly temperature is 21º, ranging between 18º and 24º through the year.
