The cruise harbor Puerto Chackabuco has only has a few service buildings. The town of Aisen and its commercial harbor is further up a river. The access to Chakabuco is through a narrow fjord among fairly high mountains. The area is very lush and green, due to the moisture coming in from the Pacific, and which in turn is hindered by the Andes. Our visit was in February, corresponding to late summer in the Northern Hemisphere. The day trip of today was to the city of Coyhayque, further inland.
