Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon is located next to a geo-thermal power station, and the runoff water from this feeds the lagoon, which is located in between lava cliffs. It is considered to be one of the 25 wonders of the world, mostly due to the blue colour. The water has a very high content of silica, and under the blue sky, the blue skylight is reflected, giving the lagoon its name.

People swimming in the lake gather globs of silica and use to massage into the skin. But beware - do not get the stuff into your eyes, as my wife Sonja painfully experienced.
