Bærum Værk is an old ironwork established in 1624 by the king at that time. Later it became under private ownership. It produced stoves for households, and a number of other iron articles. The ironwork was decommissioned in 1941. In addition to iron, the power generated from the river was utilized for a sawmill, and other activities. Now, the place is a trading- and business center, as well as an industry museum.
The sculptures are made by various artist, and placed throughout the area.
