Andalucian Coast

This Southern coast of Spain, extending from the border with Portugal in the West to Cabo de Gata, just East of Almería, and somewhat further East. The Western part is often referred to as the Costa del Sol, and Costa Tropical towards the East. The tropical notation indicates a good climate for agriculture, and indeed this area is a very large producer of vegetables and fruits for the European market. The largest city is Málaga. Other well known cities are Torremolinos and Marbella to the West, and Almería to the East.

The terrain is hilly, and extends up to Sierra Nevada, with elevations above 3000 m. The coastline is quite rocky, but with small and some large beaches in between. Due to the wery good weather, the area has been a prime tourist destination for a long time.
